Arts and technology collective seeper have baked a giant interactive Pi for this years Glastonbury Festival. The filling being the audience.
They asked: “If there is no beginning and no end, then what?†the answer Pi, Pie or a circle. In this instant a 16 metre round Big Top tent in the festivals Trash City area, that responds to the motion of the people within it.
Running with the festival from Thursday 26th to Monday the 30th of June 2008.
Festival goers enter through an airplane crashed into a Launderette on a deserted back alley called the NYC Downlow. A familiar sight to anyone who visited last years Love Box festival.
After making their way through the pampering of the Laundrettas Mother-ship plane they enter a place stuck between a 1950’s B-Movie fantasy and the modern day.
Standing inside the Pi people are tracked by cameras and see a silhouette of themselves on the walls of the space. As they move photons, plasmas and other particles radiate from them and are sent flying around the space. Their movement also controls sound as one of a series of instruments. Scratching a beat, playing a bass or strumming strings makes the audience not only the filling but also the players, conductors and composers of their own collective Pi.
